Zante PR Jobs: What Being a PR in Laganas Involves

Navagio (Shipwreck) Beach in Zante – turquoise bay beneath white limestone cliffs

Walk down the Laganas strip on a summer night and it won't take long to meet the PRs: the friendly faces outside the bars and clubs, stopping groups, having a laugh and pointing them towards their venue for the night. If you're looking at Zante PR jobs for next summer, this guide covers what the role involves, who it suits, and how to get one lined up before you fly.

A quick note from me first. I'm Caoimhe, and I spent last summer in Zante doing social media for two venues on the strip, The Loft and Toucan Club. I wasn't a PR, but my job meant walking up to strangers every night and getting them talking on camera – a big part of what PRs do too. So this guide mixes what Top Dog Abroad's jobs page and reps say about PR work with what I learned from a summer of talking to holidaymakers.

What is a PR job in Zante?

On our jobs page, PR is described simply: you talk to holidaymakers, promote a venue and help create the energy that gets people through the door.

In practice, that usually means:

  • Chatting to people passing by and getting them interested in your venue
  • Telling them what's on that night and why they should come in
  • Keeping the atmosphere up so your venue looks like the place to be
  • Working as part of the wider team – bar staff, security, management and other PRs
  • Being a friendly, helpful face for holidaymakers who are new to the resort

Every venue runs PR a little differently, so you'll learn their way of doing things during your trial and first few shifts.

Similar roles worth knowing about

PR sits alongside a few other promotion roles in resort. Club representatives promote events, support venue operations and take on a varied front-of-house role. Ticket sellers sell events across the resort in a social, flexible and usually commission-led role. Shot sellers work inside busy venues and earn through sales. If PR appeals, these probably will too, and being open to more than one role can give you more options. Prefer to be inside the venue? Our guide to bar jobs in Zante covers bar work and the other nightlife roles in Laganas.

Who makes a good PR?

You don't need years of experience. Confidence, reliability and good people skills are essential – that's what venues look for most. For PR in particular, it helps if you are:

  • Happy talking to strangers. It's the whole job. You need to be confident walking up to people you've never met.
  • Thick-skinned. Not everyone wants to stop and chat, and that's fine. Smile and move on to the next group.
  • Upbeat on a busy night. You're helping create the energy that gets people in, so you need to bring it.
  • Reliable. Turning up on time, every shift, matters as much as being chatty.
  • Comfortable working nights. Most resort jobs are night-time jobs, which means your days are usually your own.

If you've worked in a shop, bar, restaurant or anything customer-facing at home, mention it. It shows you can handle people.

How does pay work for PRs?

There's no single "PR wage" in Zante. Pay, hours, benefits and working conditions are agreed directly with the employing venue, so it depends on the venue and the role. Some promotion roles, like ticket selling and shot selling, are often commission-led, meaning what you earn depends on what you sell. Ask how pay works when your job is offered, so you know what to expect before your first shift.

As one real example of resort work (not PR): I worked roughly four hours a night doing social media. You can read more about my summer doing social media in Zante.

How Top Dog Abroad lines up your PR job

The thing that puts most people off a season is the idea of landing in Laganas and walking the strip handing out CVs in the heat. I didn't have to do that, and you won't either.

Top Dog Abroad's reps work to arrange your job before you arrive. Your job is offered to you before you arrive in resort, and you're guaranteed a trial – after that, it's down to you to keep it. I arrived knowing exactly where I'd be working. There's more on how it works on our jobs in Zante page.

Don't stress about paperwork – venues in Zante help their staff sort out working documents, and our reps are on hand to help you with yours.

Tips for nailing your PR trial

Your trial is your chance to show the venue they picked the right person.

  • Ask what to wear before your shift, and get some sleep. Nobody wants a PR who looks like they've just rolled in from the night before.
  • Learn what you're promoting. Know what's on so you can talk about it with confidence.
  • Be friendly, not pushy. People respond to someone having a laugh with them, not someone blocking their path.
  • Read the group. A couple and a gang of mates on their first night out want different things.
  • Keep your energy up when it's quiet. Managers notice who keeps going on a slow night.
  • Ask for feedback afterwards, thank your manager and check when your next shift is.

How to keep your PR job

Getting your trial is the start. Keeping the job all summer comes down to being someone the venue can count on: turning up on time, staying professional on your own nights out in the same resort, treating customers and colleagues with respect, and raising problems early with your manager or our reps. In Zante, your accommodation and your job are kept separate.

Where you'll live

Our Zante workers' accommodation is on the Laganas side of the island, around Kalamaki Road – approximately 5 minutes from the beach, 7 minutes from the Laganas strip and 3 minutes from a 24-hour shop, with access to a pool nearby and kitchen facilities. It's budget, shared worker accommodation, so think basic rather than boutique. Mine was nice and clean but basic, and you barely spend time in your room anyway.

Prices are per person:

  • 1 month: from £549 – June £599, July £699, August £549
  • 2 months (June–July or July–August): £1,249
  • 3 months (June–August): £1,650

There's a £50 deposit option on one-month stays and a £100 deposit option on two- and three-month stays. For the full breakdown, see what a season in Laganas actually costs.
